The Way We Love

The idea of 'Love' 

or is it just an idea?

'Love' is not just a sentimental feeling that makes us feel fuzzy or warm, so does 'love' mean that we need to sacrifice? According to science 'love' is a chemical reaction that happens in our body giving us a rush of dopamine and serotonin but what is 'love' exactly and how do we love?

To decipher the meaning of 'love' can be a little complicated, oh wait.....'little' is actually an understatement, 'love' can be very complicated to 'understand'. 

What do I get if I love someone so deeply? 

Who should we love for that matter?

It's easy to love someone who loves us but what about loving someone who is repulsed by us?

Does it even matter whether we get something out of it or not?

It's a weird concept, isn't? 'Love' doesn't seek for anything in return neither can we pick and choose who to love. Weird, but understanding love is not that complicated once we realize that 'love' is compassionate and it comes in all shapes and forms, but this does not mean that love is gentle all the time because we can love everything about someone and yet be against some things that they do, because love doesn't have to tolerate everything, yet love is patience. Love can be fierce and tough in its own way at the same time love is kind, owing to this fact 'love' only wants to seek good for others.

When I wrote that 'love' can be complicated to understand, it is because loving someone is easy but understanding what truly love means is complicated, love has multiple layers that we need to break through in order to love the right way perhaps, like peeling the skin of an onion?

Now the question comes down to, can we love someone so patiently, kindly and selflessly? 

Yes

But my love is weak and as I selfishly think about my hardships which eventually leads me to throw people's love away too so why did I say Yes? 

because the kind of love that I'm talking about is possible by 'His' words. As Jesus himself said, "Go out there and love one another as I loved you", and this is how his love will always endure forever with us.

The love of God cannot be comprehended because his love is so unconditional that no matter what happens and no matter how lost we are in our paths, he is always there to guide us and lead us. It's funny to think that no matter how many times we reject him, he is always there to accept us with open arms and no matter how insignificant we may think we are, we are all loved by him. Thus, his love is selfless, patient and kind.
