Touch: (Breaking the barriers of language)

Mnemosyne is the English department event that we had today on the 13th of March ,2025, and when I tell you guys that it was an eventful day it was for sure a very eventful day, it was hectic and tiring too to say the least but if there is one thing that made the entire day worth staying there then it was probably the play presented by our department called 'Touch' which was a skit on untouchability.

"Once you overcome the one-inch-tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films," Bong eloquently stated as he accepted the award for Best Foreign Language Film. When Bong Joon Ho stated this in his speech, I honestly did not think much about it, but I think today is the day when I truly felt the impact of what Bong Joon Ho was trying to say. The play presented to us was fully in Tamil and I as you guys may or may not know I'm not Tamil neither can I understand an ounce of Tamil but today as I watched the play, I understood it completely and it wasn't the language that made me understand but rather the sheer emotions that was portrayed wonderfully by the actors. I felt the oppression, I felt the frustration, I felt the anger, and I felt the sadness by the actors. This was truly a huge realization for me because even though I watch a lot of foreign films in different languages I still tend to avoid certain movies solely due to the language barrier. 

This is probably a short review, but I do want to encourage everyone to watch movies outside of their comfort zone, if you don't understand the language then read the subtitles because just like Bong Joon Ho said we will actually be introduced to so many other amazing films that we didn't even know about before.

  Whiplash What happens when passion turns into obsession?  The obsession to become the greatest is not uncommon, often times we are consumed by the things that we want, overlooking the things that we need. I Saw The Devil: The Deranged Path of Revenge

 I Saw the Devil "Revenge is a fools game"   but how would you act if your loved one is taken away by the devil himself. I saw the devil is a Korean film directed by Kim Jee Woon. It is a revenge film in which the protagonist goes on a rampage to search for the killer of his wife. Choi Min Sik who is the antagonist of the movie acts as a depraved and psychopathic serial killer having no remorse for any of the actions that he has committed.  The movie starts off with the protagonist wife, stuck in the middle of nowhere as her car gets broken down, the antagonist sees this as an opportunity to fulfill his sick desires.
